Hi again after a long while. Today I’d like to share about my current college residence, along with some photos I took just a few hours ago when I was exploring the ground floor of my college residence while I waited for my clothes to finish washing :3 and also photos from other times, yeah.

My college is named Tun Merah, one of the 3 ‘Kolej Kayangan’ buildings, aside from Kasturi and Tun Putih. why kayangan ? It's placed on top of a pretty steep flight of stairs. As if that’s not enough, my room is on the very top floor 💀

(pic 1: the bottom of said flight of stairs)

Kolej Kayangan is unmistakably one of the older colleges compared to other, more well-known colleges like Tun Sabariah, Tun Hasan, and whatnot. Tun Merah, Tun Putih, and Kasturi used to be a college for the male students. But it was passed on to the girls instead along the way.

My room is TMH1309, the way of reading it is like:
wing A (1)
floor 3 (3)
room 9 (09)
kind of like Tun Sabariah’s house number last semester.

In all honesty, I really didn’t like Tun Merah at first (I still don’t like it now). It's old, crusty, there’s graffiti everywhere, and the hallways are really dark even when the sun is out. Not to mention the absolute journey I have to go through just to get to my room.

(pic 2: the infamous ‘ular merah’ graffiti right in front of my room)

But there’s one thing I like a lot about Tun Merah — which is my roommates. I’m not saying that I never got along with my other roommates during the past semesters, but for this semester specifically? I love the 3 of them a whole LOT (don’t tell them that). Not only do I get along with my roommates so much, but I also get along with their friends.

My roommates are Dana, Kathy, and Downy (those aren’t their real names, that’s what I call them). all 3 of them are semester 2 Graphic Design (AD111) students, Dana and Downy were roomies last semester, and Kathy was their neighbor. In fact, Downy and Kathy are classmates. So it wasn’t as awkward when we first met because the three of them knew each other.

At first, they insisted on calling me ‘kakak’, but I firmly said, “i better not hear that word come out of your mouths again,” because I find seniority in such a close age range to be stupid. So they call me Isya instead, which I much, much prefer.

Anyway, I went downstairs to wash my clothes just now, and I decided to do a little exploring on the ground floor (hopefully I didn’t accidentally bring an attachment with me).

(pic 3: pile of stuff™️ at the back of the open hall. seems to be damaged chairs and flattened cardboard boxes. The ominous TV must’ve originally sat here before going to the stairs of all places)

(pic 4: interior of the reading room. No, no séances are being held here)

(pic 5: weird little area under the stairs. maybe the cats come hang around there, idk)

(pic 6: ominous old TV facing a flight of stairs. didn’t take a pic of the stairs themselves, though)

(pic 7: laundry area. Yes, that’s it.)

(pic 8: unused bilik wudhu’)

(pic 9: trees at the back of the college)

(pic 10: Tun Merah wing A, and the very sad ampaian)

(pic 11: seating area out in the open near the laundry area)

(pic 12: Tun Red’s cats (nameless though))

(pic 13: Tun Merah wing B from the 1st floor)

(pic 14: Tun Merah wing A floor 2’s really dark hallway)

Exploring scary-looking places by myself was a bit spooky, but I really didn’t feel anything while looking around. I even went into the reading room myself and… well, the air is stuffy and heavy. That’s the only abnormal part, I guess.

Maybe Dana, Downy, and Kathy were right. I am probably too nonchalant for anything to attach itself to me. But I also have the survival instinct of a plastic spork, so who knows?

adios
